Los Angeles Police said free agent Nick Young was arrested in Hollywood after being detained late at night for a violation of a traffic law.
Officer Mike Lopez, a department spokesman, said Young was placed under arrest for prolonging an investigation, in addition to inappropriate conduct.
Lopez added that Young did not obey the officers' orders, was upset and caused the delay.
Young was booked on Saturday and then released. He has a hearing for September 19.
Young, 33, played last season with the Golden State Warriors champions.
A representative of the basketmaker could not immediately be reached for comment.
