Fanatics will not make MLB uniforms for now, but they will do something better for the common good by manufacturing hospital masks and gowns at their facilities in Pennsylvania. Best of all, they will be donated to meet the shortage of personal protective equipment for medical personnel, nurses, health and first aid personnel that are the first line of combat against COVID-19.
Fanatics owner Michael Rubin said on Twitter that the Pennsylvania government told him they needed to create protective gear. Rubin contacted MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, who agreed to stop production of the uniforms. Rubin says 100 of his employees are working on the mission of creating a million pieces of gowns and masks for staff in Pennsylvania and with a view to reaching New York and New Jersey.
